Whether you have lost a spouse, life partner, parent, grandparent or guardian, we can help. Gilchrist Hospice Care offers a wide range of grief support resources, which are open to our own bereaved or anyone in the community who has lost a loved one. The grief support resources offered include:
Grief counseling
One-on-one counseling is available for those who prefer an individual approach to dealing with the overwhelming emotional fears and physical responses associated with a loss. This is offered free of charge to those who have lost a loved one through Gilchrist Hospice Care and to interested community members.
Grief support groups
These groups encourage mutual support and understanding by providing an environment where participants can discuss and explore their feelings of grief and how they are coping.
Most support groups meet for six sessions and are offered both daytime and evenings. Examples of groups include: widowed persons/life partners; young widowed persons/life partners; adults who have experienced the loss of a parent; and survivors of sudden death. There is no fee for these groups.
Quarterly luncheons
The luncheons provide an opportunity for anyone who has lost a loved one to meet with others and share support. Luncheons include a speaker who will talk on various topics regarding grief and loss. There is a $7.00 charge for the luncheon.
